So Che Chesterman knocked it out of the park for me tonight with his version of ‘You can’t hurry love’ originally recorded by the Diana Ross and The Supremes in 1966.
Aside from his performance being pitch perfect, every detail that went into the production told a story and warmed the heart. Kudos to Nick Grimshaw for helping Che reinvent this old classic into a love ballad and for reminding me that I am such a hopeless romantic.
It also reminded me of the beautiful love story of a dear friend, Mimi and her prince charming, Adigi. I therefore want to dedicate this post to them and I wish them all the very best as they embark on the most exciting journey of their lives one week from today. May their love for each other continue to grow and deepen with every passing day, month and year. May this be the start of a whole new adventure with just enough twists and turns to make the ride exciting and always deliver them exactly where they both need to be.
To the singles out there, there is nothing more to say than, watch the performance, listen to the lyrics and I guarantee your singleness will make sense in the next 2 minutes… LOL!
On a serious note, I do hope the video reignites the desire of anyone that has either lost faith in love or given up in its pursuit.
Here is the video and the lyrics to go as performed by Che Chesterman.
Enjoy!
I need love, love to ease my mind
I need to find someone to call mine
But you can’t hurry love, no you just have to wait
She said love don’t come easy, Its a game of give and take
You can’t hurry love, no you just have to wait
You got to trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes
But how many heartaches must I stand
Before I find a love to let me live again
Right now the only thing that keeps me hangin’ on
Is when I fell my strength, yeah
It’s almost gone
You cann’t hurry love, no you just have to wait
She said love don’t come easy, Its a game of give and take
You can’t hurry love, no you just have to wait
You got to trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes
You can’t hurry love.
